Teardown: Saia-Burgess XGK2-88Z1 microswitch
What’s inside the Saia-Burgess XGK2-88Z1 microswitch?
The microswitch contains one beige and one black case part (injection-moulded plastic) that areĀ rivetedtogether. In order to open the microswitch, one needs to drill out the aluminium rivet.
The pusher button actuates the middle part of the leaf spring which causes the contact to flip sides. Both outer sides of the leaf spring, but not the middle part of the sping, are affixed to the common terminal (both electrically and mechanically). The button is pushed down using the spring in the top right.
See my video on the acutation mechanism for a better understanding on how the leafspring is actuated.
