How to strap Ethernet PHY pins with and without LEDs?
Ethernet PHYs often use pins for two functions: One for transmitting or receiving data, and one for strapping: configuring the.
In order to configure the PHY, you need to connect the strapping pins to either VCC or GND via a resistor.
The resistor value highly depends on the PHY you’re using and you need to look it up in the datasheet!. Common values range from 1kΩ
to 10kΩ
. Always use 1% tolerance resistors to ensure the correct value.
Here are some PHY strap resistor values I’ve seen:

2.49kΩ
