Teltonika RUTOS devices (RUTX10, TRB140, RUT241, …) store their firmware
version in /etc/version. To read it over SSH:
get-version.sh
ssh root@<device-ip> 'cat /etc/version'Example output:
example.txt
TRB1_R_00.07.24.3The format is <model>_R_<version>, e.g. TRB1 = TRB140, RUTX = RUTX10 /
RUTX11, followed by the RutOS release (07.24.3).
Alternatives
alternatives.sh
# OpenWrt base version + target info
ssh root@<device-ip> 'cat /etc/os-release'
# JSON: model, board, firmware name in release.description
ssh root@<device-ip> 'ubus call system board'ubus call system board returns structured JSON — handy for scripts since it
also includes the model name, hostname and kernel version.
Scripted example
script.sh
ssh -o BatchMode=yes root@192.168.88.1 'cat /etc/version' | grep -o '[0-9.]*$'
# → 07.24.3The version is also printed in the SSH login banner/MOTD on RutOS, so parsing
/etc/version is the cleaner machine-readable option.
