802.3bt 对于 >= 40W（class 5+）的功率始终需要四对线，并且**不支持通过两对线供电。**使用 802.3bt 为 2 对线设备供电仅在为最高 30W 的设备供电时有效（即在"802.3at 向后兼容"模式下）。
